# Hockey Sushi in Kanata: A Return Visit to This All-You-Can-Eat Standby
> A personal dining review based on a recent return visit. Experiences can vary, and menu items, service, pricing, and restaurant conditions can change over time.
## Quick take
Hockey Sushi feels more polished than it did on my previous visit. The dining room has been refreshed, service was markedly faster and better organized, and the all-you-can-eat format still offers a practical way to try a broad range of familiar Japanese dishes without over-ordering. It remains one of the stronger prepared-to-order all-you-can-eat options in West Ottawa, particularly for diners in Kanata.
There is an important caveat: a chicken teriyaki serving at our table arrived significantly undercooked, and the response when we raised the concern was disappointing. That is a serious food-safety issue and should not be minimized.
## A welcome refresh to the room
It had been roughly eight months since my previous visit, and the restaurant appeared to have had a useful reset in the meantime. The walls had been repainted, the seating was reupholstered, and the tabletops had been upgraded to granite. None of those changes alters the food itself, but together they made the dining room feel cleaner, more current, and more comfortable than I remembered.
For an all-you-can-eat restaurant, the overall atmosphere matters. Meals can involve several rounds of ordering and a longer stay at the table, so a refreshed room helps the experience feel less worn down and more intentional.
## Service was noticeably improved
The biggest change was the service flow. On earlier visits, mixed-up orders had been part of the experience. This time, our orders were handled accurately, and most dishes arrived almost immediately after they were placed. Fried rice still took somewhat longer, but that was the exception rather than the rule.
The improved organization made the meal much easier to enjoy. Fast, accurate delivery matters in an all-you-can-eat setting, because it allows diners to enjoy several rounds without long waits or confusion.
